Greetings!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Melissa Detlaff and it is a pleasure to become your Middle School and High School Counselor. My goal is to get to know each of you on a personal level and do my best to help make this your best year yet! I also would like to encourage you to get to know me whether it is passing in the hallway, in class, or at a game supporting our Red Raiders!

I live in Chippewa Falls with my husband and daughter (my son has already graduated and moved out). I attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie for both my Bachelor's (Human Development and Family Studies) and Master's (School Counseling) Degrees.

 

Last year I was a School Counselor in a rural native village in Alaska where all travel in and out was by bush plane. Before that, I worked at the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Eau Claire for over 20 years. All of this means that I have a LOT of background experience that can help me understand, and be compassionate about, the many different things that affect kids and families.
